Sabotage Festival will take place in Timisoara on October 2-3. Headlining this year’s line-up are Foreign Beggars, WhoMadeWho and Max Cooper.
For this special event, the Copenhagen-based trio answered a couple of questions emphasizing on their music carrier, collabs and rewards.
Q: What has been WMW’s greatest reward so far?
A: The greatest reward is having the chance to do what we love and to be able to travel the world making a living from it.
Q: What artists/bands have had the most significance influence on your music?
A: Daft Punk, because until their last album theyhadsucceeded being ground-breaking and cool, without selling out. Miles Davis because he was sensible but also a bad motherf…
Q: How did you end up making your latest album Ember on Get Physical Music?
A: We are long term friends with Phillipp and Patrick from Mandy, so it made sense to do something together.
Q: You have had various releases on Kompakt, Life & Death and Sugarcane. What are some of the other labels you would like to release on in the future?
A: There are many great labels out there that we respect like Warp and Xl, but I think we want to focus on our friends labels that we already have worked with, it's sometimes better to build a family than to shift all the time.
Q: WMW’s tracks are being remixed by many top class DJs. Is there more by way of partnership between you and the DJs? How does this relationship work?
A: We are very fortunate that a lot of great people want to work with us, sometimes they contact us, and other times we approach them… Sometimes we don't even know it's there...
Q: Which remix has been the most fun to put together?
A: The Maceo Plex remix was mind blowing and has been very cool for us.
Q: What future collaborations await WMW?
A: We have big plans, but can't tell anything yet.
Q: How do you feel that you have changed in the last 10 years as a band?
A: We have changed a lot during our 10 years as a band. We started out playing instrumental dance-music in night-clubs, then moved gradually towards a more vocal oriented way of expression. Now we are playing more in rock-clubs and at big festivals.
Change is very important to us, it’s our fuel to keep pushing each-other in new directions. It keeps the sparkle and the internal energy in the band high and keep us wanting to do more.
